Dear Mr President,
I am writing to you from the other side of the Atlantic, aware that your decisions will shape the whole world.
The pressure on you to “pass the torch” is not an action against you. It is a collaborative effort to secure victory for the values you represent.
It is your; our, infamous opponent, who repeats “me, me, me, me” ad nauseam. Don’t be like him. The victorious power comes from “us”, not from “me”.
For all you have done for democracy, you will not be forgotten. Now, let someone younger perform the summit attack, this way the team will win. Apart from wisdom and experience, in today’s media-dominated world, we need the reflexes of a quick, sharp wit, expressed in contemporary language, to lay bare and rip to shreds the bunch of lies and rubbish that Trump peddles.
Supporting a younger comrade to finish your job may become the greatest victory in your life.
With respect, and admiration, and faith in your wisdom,
A sixty-year old who, for best results, more and more often delegates tasks to younger family members, and does not lose standing because of doing so.
If you have any thoughts on the above, please leave a comment. Your remarks may improve my future writing.
